line-height: 1.6; margin: 16px 0;\"><strong>Nature of Industrial Water Contaminants and the Role of API<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Oils or hydrocarbons are among the main pollutants of industrial wastewater, especially in refineries and petrochemical plants.<br \/>\nThese oils exist in water in the following forms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Free oil:<\/strong> Large droplets that can be separated by gravity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emulsified oil (1\u201310 microns):<\/strong> Requires flotation methods such as <strong>DAF<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dissolved oil:<\/strong> Removable only by <strong>biological or chemical<\/strong> treatment methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Free oils float on the water surface due to density difference and can be removed using gravity separation.<br \/>\nEmulsified oils, due to their extremely small size, do not float easily and require DAF for removal.<br \/>\nDissolved oils require advanced chemical or biological treatment processes.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 18px; line-height: 1.6; margin: 16px 0;\"><strong>The Role of API Separator in Wastewater Treatment<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The API separator is typically the first and most important step in refinery wastewater treatment.<br \/>\nIts primary function is to remove the bulk of free oils and suspended solids before the wastewater enters advanced treatment stages.<\/p>\n<p>The API consists of a shallow rectangular basin that provides sufficient retention time for oil to float to the surface.<br \/>\nThe calm flow helps improve gravitational separation.<br \/>\nOil and grease droplets rise to the surface and are collected by a surface skimmer.<br \/>\nAt the bottom, settling particles such as sludge and heavy debris are collected by a sludge scraper.<\/p>\n<p>API can remove free oil, non-emulsified fats, and large suspended solids such as bolts, plastics, metal pieces, etc.<br \/>\nHowever, it has limited ability to remove stable emulsified oil and contaminants such as COD, BOD, and dissolved organic matter.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 18px;
