Product Introduction

Flame Arrester is a safety device installed on tanks and along transfer lines to, in the event of flame or fire occurrence, reduce temperature and divide the flame into smaller streams.
Using this device in lines and tanks containing flammable fluids is essential.

Flame arresters extinguish or stop the advancing flame by absorbing its heat. The flame heat is absorbed inside a metallic mesh element.
The overall dimensions and passage sizes of this element are determined based on factors such as gas composition, temperature, and allowable pressure drop across the device.

Flame Arrester Operation

The function of flame arresters in limiting the flame and preventing explosive propagation has made this device a crucial safety component with diverse applications such as:

  • Ventilation of storage tanks
  • Natural gas and fuel supply/transfer lines
  • Industrial burner chimneys
  • Combustible vapor recovery

In addition to preventing flame passage, the flame arrester also prevents the entry of particles and insects into the storage tank.
The design of the metallic mesh of the flame arrester is such that it effectively resists external impacts and does not deform under exposure to advancing flames or explosion pressure.
